About Me

My name is Stephanie Bouvia and I am a local government reporter for the Press & Sun-Bulletin in Binghamton, N.Y. I cover the Town of Union and the villages of Endicott and Johnson City.

In May 2013, I graduated summa cum laude from the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications at Syracuse University with a bachelor’s degree in newspaper journalism.

Previously, I worked as an intern for Syracuse Media Group and Eagle Newspapers. I covered various news stories in the Central New York area.

I was a member of the web staff for Democracywise, an award-winning political news website run by SU professor and Knight Chair in Political Reporting Charlotte Grimes. I was also the social media director for SU’s on-campus health magazine, What the Health. I am a former editor of The Daily Orange, SU’s daily independent student newspaper, and a former lead producer for The NewsHouse, a news website for the Newhouse school.

On April 30,2013, I received the first-ever Bob Heisler Award for Excellence. The award is for a student with outstanding achievement in news writing and editing. I also received the Henry J. Leader Memorial Prize in Editing. The award is for the best senior in newspaper editing. Both of these awards were given through the Newhouse school.
